Section 01
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, signing in via Google or Facebook, or simply submitting a document for a scan on plagcheck.com, you agree to these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
If you are using Plagcheck on behalf of an organisation (school, university, company), you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation, and “you” in these terms means both you and the organisation.
Section 02
Definitions
- “Plagcheck”, “we”, “our” — System Technology Online Spain SL. and its US affiliate System Tech Online USA Inc.
- “Service” — plagcheck.com, our APIs, integrations, mobile/desktop apps, and any related software or content provided by us.
- “Your content” — any document, text or file you submit to the service for scanning or storage.
- “Report” — the plagiarism / AI-detection output produced by the service for your content.
- “Subscription” — a paid plan (Light, Standard or Premium) on a monthly, quarterly or yearly term.
Section 03
The service
Plagcheck provides automated plagiarism and AI-content detection. We scan your content against publicly indexed sources and known LLM fingerprints, then return a report with similarity scores, matched sources and AI-confidence indicators.
The report is informational. It is not a legal verdict and should not be the sole basis for any disciplinary, employment or commercial decision. Always exercise independent judgement.
Section 04
Your account
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and current information when you sign up.
- Keep your password and any API keys confidential.
- Be responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- Notify us promptly at [email protected] of any unauthorised access.
Accounts are personal and non-transferable. Sharing one account between multiple humans is a breach of these terms and will result in suspension.
Section 05
Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the service to violate any law, regulation or third-party right.
- Submit content you do not own or have permission to scan.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile or extract our detection models.
- Scrape, frame or systematically copy our website or reports.
- Bypass rate limits, abuse the free tier with multiple accounts, or run automated traffic without an API plan.
- Use the service to harass, defame, or wrongfully accuse a person of plagiarism or AI use.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any violation, with or without notice depending on severity.
Section 06
Your content
You retain all ownership of your content. By submitting it, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process it for the purpose of producing the report and operating the service.
We do not use your content to train our detection models. We do not publish or share your content with other users. Storage of your content is governed by our retention rules.
Section 07
Intellectual property
Plagcheck, the Plagcheck logo, the underlying detection algorithms and the user interface are our intellectual property, protected by copyright, trademark and trade-secret law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service under these terms — nothing more.
Section 08
Payment, renewal and refunds
Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance, on the term you choose (monthly, quarterly or yearly). Prices and accepted currencies are shown on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term unless you cancel before the renewal date from your account settings. You will be charged at the then-current rate.
Refunds
We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on first-time monthly and quarterly subscriptions. Yearly subscriptions are refundable pro-rata within 30 days. After that, paid terms are non-refundable, but you keep access for the remainder of the period.
Section 09
Disclaimers & warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that scans will detect every instance of plagiarism or AI-generated content, that reports are free from false positives or negatives, or that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or perfectly secure.
Section 10
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plagcheck’s total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages, including lost profits, lost data, reputational harm, or the cost of substitute services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Section 11
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Plagcheck harmless from any third-party claim, damage or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) your breach of these terms, (b) content you submitted, or (c) your unlawful use of the service.
Section 12
Termination
You can cancel your account at any time from settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately, with or without notice, for breach of these terms, suspected fraud, or as required by law. On termination, your right to use the service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, liability, governing law) survive.
Section 13
Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alicante, Spain — except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings locally.
For users in North America, the laws of the State of Texas apply and disputes are subject to the courts of Travis County, Texas.
Section 14
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email to registered users at least 30 days before they take effect, and the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the change. Continued use of the service after the change constitutes acceptance.
